Advising

Be Advised!

SDSU has many advising resources available to Commuter Students throughout their time at SDSU.
  • First-Year and Sophomore students will be assigned a Coordinated Care Advisor (CCA), who will be the main and first point of contact for advising support and can assist students with the development of a degree graduation plan, learning to navigate university resources, procedures, and academic advising tools.
  • It is recommended that Commuter Students visit an advisor at least once a semester to ensure that they are on track for graduation.
  • Transfer, Junior and Senior students will work primarily with their major advisor(s) to get into the upper division major and courses to progress towards graduation.
  • It is recommended that Commuter Students visit an advisor at least once a semester to ensure that they are on track for graduation.
  • Every SDSU student has a personalized Success Team, which is a list of advisors and other support staff, including CCA (if applicable) and major advisor(s). Your Success Team is located on the bottom right side of the SDSU Navigate home screen and you can email them by clicking the envelope icon near their name.
  • SDSU offers many types and lengths of global education study abroad programs.
  • The best semester to go is the spring semester of junior/third year and to start planning one year in advance.
  • Students must complete the Advising Questionnaire (click Start Advising) before attending drop-in advising with a Global Education Advisor.
